Matt’s acupuncture education spanned four academic years and over 3,000 hours (including over 1,000 hours of clinical training). He completed an internship in Chengdu, China where he studied with some of China’s best traditional doctors in a busy, mainstream, modern hospital that incorporated both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
Matt also works at Sea Change Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine in West Hartford, CT which he opened in the summer of 2007. Having fallen in love with Providence as an undergraduate at Brown University, Matt is thrilled to be back, as co-owner of East Coast Acupuncture & Herbs.
Matt has experience treating many types of disorders, but specializes in the treatment of chronic pain and emotional and stress-related issues. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday.

Ayla’s love of acupuncture began over 13 years ago when she first became a patient herself. The power and beauty of this medicine led her to the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin, Texas, where she received specialized training in acupuncture and the related therapies of moxabustion, cupping, guasha, Asian bodywork, internal martial arts and Chinese herbal medicine. Now, as a practitioner, she has the pleasure of watching patients heal and cheer up right in front of her eyes. Ayla feels strongly that Chinese medicine can teach us all how to take better care of ourselves. The study and practice of Chinese medicine is a life-long path that she is excited and honored to pursue.
Ayla opened East Coast Acupuncture & Herbs as part of a group practice at the Chestnut Street Wellness Center because she believes that health and wellbeing are not the property of one system alone. Holistic healthcare, movement, bodywork, and a relationship with our community all work in concert to help us on our paths to wellness. In addition to co-owning East Coast Acupuncture & Herbs with Matt, Ayla also practices at Providence Community Acupuncture,
Ayla uses acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to treat a wide variety of health concerns including women’s health disorders, digestive problems and allergies. Appointments are available Monday through Saturday.
